A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the fall launch party for Nectar Boutique. It was one of the best blogger events I have been to to date! It was at the cutest little jazz club in Claremont called Hip Kitty, and I had such a good time meeting other bloggers and hanging out. And the owners of the boutique are awesome! Do you ever have weeks you're just tired allll week long? That is this week for me. I think it's just been weird adjusting to Ben's new schedule because he gets home super late. Tuesday afternoon we literally laid around the ENTIRE afternoon. And ate ice cream. I'm obsessed with mint chip ice cream smashed between two graham crackers. The best ice cream sandwich. We just watched The Voice basically the whole time. Anyone else love watching the judges interact with each other? Adam and Blake crack me up. I want to be friends with them. Ok, I'm done now. :P

Mohawk Braided Updo Tutorial

Good morning ladies! Today I have a special tutorial for you all on this look, Don't be freaked out by the looks of it. It's actually only a French braid but just with a few touches to it to make it look a little "Vogue". I was scrolling through Pinterest a few weeks ago, and found a photo of this hairstyle so I decided to do it, and now here is a tutorial for you. I'm still figuring out the best way to do all of these tutorials so please bear with me as I learn! I made my bed for you though, at least. #yourewelcome

How was everyone's weekend?! Mine was crazy. I woke up at 6am Saturday to do hair for a friend's wedding and then we attended the wedding which was SOOO much fun. As we walked out the door to leave, they had an In-N-Out truck with a sign telling us to take some for the road. If you aren't lucky enough to live in one of the states that has In-N-Out, I'm sorry. And come visit. They have the most delicious burgers and fries! I don't normally work Sundays but I did a job doing hair for a dance catalogue photo shoot. It's always super fun but just a busy weekend! So needless to say, I was so excited to have the day off yesterday and luckily Ben did too! We just worked out and then laid around all day. It was perfect.

Half-Up Mohawk Tutorial

         


Good morning ladies! I did this hairstyle last week and had a ton of response to it and a few requests for a tutorial so here it is! It's really much easier than it looks! I hope it all makes sense, and please let me know if you have any questions!
I had a great birthday weekend! My hubby and I went to a concert at House of Blues where my high school friend performed! Her name is Ashlee Morton, and you should DEFINITELY check her out. Her voice is incredible and her songs are so full of emotion. My fave. Then on my actual birthday I went running while my hubby made breakfast, and then I had waffles and ice cream for breakfast! My brother and his wife do it for birthdays, and I was with them one time when they did, and I decided I wanted it to be our birthday tradition too because it's so delish. I mean hello, ice cream for breakfast? Yes please! We went kayaking in Newport Harbor after breakfast and then to my grandma's for swimming and dessert with our families! I haven't played in a pool or did flips off the diving board like I did that day in years. It was so fun! Oh and then last night I got to go to sushi with one of my best friends, and we ate so much and chatted about life, and I had a firework type thing in my birthday dessert so it was pretty awesome! Anyways, thanks for reading! I'm off to lunch with some friends to chat about an upcoming fashion/pop-up shop event so stay tuned for details on that!

My hubby had his monthly training, and somehow every single one of my friends had plans already. One friend did come over late Saturday, and we had some girly chat on the couch. (Friends was on in the background and neither of us was paying attention because we've seen every episode ten times but we literally both stopped talking without even shooshing each other to watch the Chandler/Monica proposal: best EVER.) Sweet Potato Nachos!

Just slice the potatoes thinly, lather with olive oil and salt, bake, and then top with your favorite nacho ingredients! I put chicken, grilled onion and bell pepper, tomato, avocado, Tapatio, and a dollop of plain Greek yogurt.

For those of you who don't know, I've been doing CrossFit for almost two years now and I LOVE it! I PRed my Fran time last week and was pretty stoked about it!

Lace Tunic and a Turban

Ladies! I figured out how to wear your workout gear in public and look acceptable! :P I've had this tunic for quite some time and have only ever worn it as a swim cover-up! Then the other day, I had a bright idea to try something new under it that I could wear out (funny, in the links I put below are similar styles, but I hadn't even seen that!). I am wearing spandex workout shorts and a bralette type top under it. I also was wanting a turban but realized that all I had to do is take one of my scarves I had and fold it right. You can watch the tutorial I used here. Seriously loving this fun style! Hope you all try at least part of it out!

How's everyone's week been? Mine has been great! Just been working and working out and hanging out with friends and my hubby! He will be gone this weekend for his monthly Marine training so I'll have to figure out what I'm gonna do! Floral Romper and a Statement Stone

Hello, ladies! How was that Fourth of July weekend for ya?! Let me just say, I wish I could go back. Three days of no work, my hubby, friends and family and fireworks, and of course, ice cream and coffee. Basically perfect. Oh, and we went to the beach too. And I got to see my cutie pie nephew and babysit while everyone else was unpacking after moving. So I definitely got the better end of the deal. 

Now on to this outfit! I am LOVING this floral romper. Its light and airy and has a Free People vibe to it but its price point was better suited to my budget needs. (Thanks, TJ Maxx for always delivering!). I paired it with my Forever 21 denim vest and this new gem from Shop Pretty Pants! It's the cutest little bright pink stone, and all the stone shapes and sizes vary which I think is pretty cool because yours and mine won't be exactly the same! Make sure you check them out!
