Dressing Down with Formal Hair, Part 1

Sooo in honor of it being prom and wedding season, I have a two-part post for you all on rocking your formal hair 'do for a casual occasion and also for your formal event. Today's is the casual look. Last weekend, I had several girls I was doing for prom so I was feeling inspired to try something fun (also, sometimes an updo can actually take me less time than doing my hair :P). So I did a fun little updo on my hair, but still wore my normal casual clothes. I paired my overalls with a basic black crop shirt and a collar necklace and fun sandals to add to the elegant look. This purse came straight from Africa. Pretty cool, right? And it's basically like a Mary Poppin's bag. My friend, Gemma, got it for me when she went there on a missions trip.

Overall LOVE

Soooo overalls are back, and a few months ago I wasn't so sure about them. But I'm officially a fan. I ordered these off of Forever 21, and I am soooo happy with them. They are incredibly comfortable and so cute, and I love that they're a break from your regular old denim but still have the versatility of denim. Also, that shirt underneath is actually a bodysuit! I can't believe I'm wearing them again. I thought they were so cool when I was a kid. Made me feel all grown up for some reason. :P They are perfect with overalls because then you guarantee your shirt stays tucked in since overalls fit a little loose!

My hubby and I got the best news yesterday. My cousin and her hubs were going to Stagecoach for free (I was SOOO jealous), and then they ended up letting us know yesterday there were two more tickets available. I am ecstatic! I have been wanting to go to Stagecoach for years (for those of you not in So Cal, Stagecoach is a three-day country music festival), but it's so expensive I've never pulled the trigger and gone. I literally can't believe we get to go! It might finally sink in when I'm singing along to Luke Bryan live playing "Play it Again". Eeeeek! So excited. Happy Friday, ya'll.

Pineapplessss!

Ok, so I have a serious love for coffee. I just left my house a little bit ago solely to get half and half for my coffee. I mooched from the old roomie/neighbor yesterday so I sort of figured I needed to get my own for today. Also, if you follow me on Instagram, you saw my little Pinterest inspired DIY mug I made this morning. My hubby is the best for putting up with my needing coffee the second I wake up. :P

Sooo onto my getup. I am loving all the fruit everywhere this season (on clothes, duh :P) And hats are a must for those of us who like to get the most out of our hair washing. Plus they're fun and different! I paired my hat with stripes to give the outfit some more flare. I love how stripes can compliment a lot of varying prints! Also, I think everyone should have some coated leggings. Normal leggings can be a little boring sometimes but put on some coated ones, and it adds a lot interest to your outfit without you having to change much!

Stripes and Sombreros

Boy am I glad it's Monday. I know most people hate Mondays but with my hair dresser schedule, I live for Mondays! I even worked yesterday so today is my first day off in like six days. I plan to drink lots of coffee, lounge around, run and then lounge around some more. Maybe fold the giant pile of laundry in the living room if I feel like it.
If you haven't noticed yet, I'm fully embracing the 90's comeback. Loving overalls and brights and florals and snapbacks. This top is actually a peplum I tucked in but I am so ready to buy some bodysuits! (I actually can't believe I'm saying that. I LOVED them as a kid. For some reason I thought they were so cool and made me feel grown up. haha weird.) Also, you can't tell very well in these photos, but this lip color is an awesome orangey color. Love it.
