Hat, Booties, and Railroads

I seriously LOVE hats. Any chance I can get to wear one, I do. In the past they were my cover-up for dirty hair days, but now I just wear them just because. They can make any old outfit just have that extra something. All the hats like this I have seen lately tend to be a little expensive so I was so excited when I found this one for less than $20 #forever21forever. :P Also, these booties. Probably my all time favorite shoe for this past season. I wear them allll the time. So comfortable, and they go with everything!
This spot we took photos is like three blocks from my house. There's just an old train caboose with baggage carts on the corner of the street. It's a cool land mark here in Yorba Linda but I realized I have no idea why it's here! So, I googled it. As far as I can tell, it's a caboose from the Union Pacific Railroad that used to run through Yorba Linda. (And there's my dorky side coming out. I LOVE knowing definitions of things and why they happen etc.) Have a great weekend! xoxoxo

F L O R A L

I am loving these new floral pants I picked up at Forever 21 over the weekend. They are the most comfortable thing ever (basically like wearing pajamas!), but are still so cute and on trend with all the floral patterns that are everywhere (and perfect for all of your Coachella and Stagecoach needs!). I'm sort of wishing I had kept all of my childhood clothes from my floral culottes to my overalls!
I love Wednesdays because at night, Ben and I cuddle in bed and watch two of our shows on Hulu, New Girl and Brooklyn 99, and sometimes eat ice cream (mmm....we have mint brownie right now). It gives us something fun to look forward to mid-week. As for the rest of my day, I'm off to do a trail run with a friend. Boston Marathon is getting close, and I'm running as much as I can! Hope you all have a wonderful day! xo

Colored Skinnies and Converse

Happy Monday, Everyone! I, for one, am happy it's Monday because my hubby got home last night, and it means the start of a week WITH him. Yippee! I kept myself busy and distracted all weekend with family and friends so I didn't have time to miss him too much (still did, duhhh!) I got to hang out with my cutest little nephew ever, and he never stops smiling and laughing so he was my man crush for the weekend ;).
As for the outfit, you can never go wrong with colored skinnies, Converse and a cute graphic tee! Always looks put together no matter what! And here's a little tip: to make your ponytail look polished, tease the hair at the front of your head before you put it up, and then once it's secure with an elastic, wrap a piece of hair from the ponytail around the elastic to hide it, and secure it with a bobby pin! Makes for a chic ponytail!

Have a great Monday and some corned beef and cabbage! Happy St. Patty's!

Camo and Crop

So I figured since my husband is wearing camo all week for training, I should too! Kidding. Just happened that way. I snagged this jacket when I was shopping with my gram the other day. I love how the camo look is softened with the sweatshirt sleeves and hoodie. Also, I just got this NYX lipstick (see below), and it's my new fave. Just the perfect orangey-red. Hope ya'll have a great weekend! xoxox

From Preschool to Prada

We all have those days. You're in a rush. Your hair is dirty. You just don't really care. You've seen lots of girls with cute messy side braids, and you decide that's what you'll do. You braid like you learned to in grade school and look in the mirror and realize you look like you're in preschool! You try to pull it looser but it just goes right back to how it looked. Boo. And now you're even later. You just want to look like all those other girls that rock the messy braids! Today, I'm going to show you in two simple steps how to take your braid from preschool to Prada!

First, do a regular old braid, and secure with an elastic.

Next, hold tightly to the bottom of the braid where there elastic is.

Then, while STILL holding the base of the braid, use your other hand to pull on the inner portion of the braided strand, and MAKE SURE the hair actually loosens a little from the bottom where the elastic is. Continue this process for each strand all the way down on both sides. Pull out a few pieces from the front of your hair as well to compliment the loose look. (*note: my hair was curled the day before and still had leftover curl). If your hair was not curled before, loosely curl the front pieces away from your face.

And, VOILA! Ready for the runway!
I do this with all of my braids, french, fishtail or regular, no matter where they are on my head!

Cable Knit Sweater and Pastel Pants

So today my gram came into my salon for a haircut, and afterwards she literally said what every girl dreams of, "Let's go shopping! MY treat". My husband and I are on a budget right now, and are really limiting treating ourselves to extras (shopping for me and eating out for him...boo) to be better prepared for our future (ok yay!). Anyways, I haven't shopped much lately, and I've been missing it! My gram LOVES Kohl's so she insisted we go there. I generally wouldn't shop there but I couldn't turn her offer down! I was actually quite surprised with what I found, including this awesome cable knit sweater! The quality is amazing, and I know I'll be wearing it a lot. I paired it with my pastel pink pants and my new flats from Forever! Pretty sure both will be a spring staple.
In other news, my husband leaves tomorrow for training for the Marine Reserves til Sunday! I hate when he's gone but I'll be working and will probably spend some time with my girlfriends to distract myself! xoxo

Not sure what I'm doing in either of these photos but I can't be so serious :P
